PROBATE & ESTATE ADMINISTRATION
We know the difficulty involved upon the
passing of a family member or loved one. Our office is
experienced in all aspects of probate and estate
administration. We will work with your family and advise
you and prepare all of the necessary paperwork for
filing with the Surrogate’s Court.
The Law Offices of Michael W. Alpert will
assist with the estate process from start to finish,
including the collection of assets, paying any estate
bills, and distribution of assets to the beneficiaries.
Further, should there be any claims against
the estate or issues which may result in litigation,
this office provides services including: will contests,
removal of an executor/administrator, and accounting
proceedings.
The process of admitting a valid will is
referred to as probate, while a similar process
known as administration occurs when a decedent
dies without a will (“intestate”). The
probate/administration proceeding should commence as
soon as practical, and the Law Offices of Michael W.
Alpert can assist during this difficult period for your
family.
We offer a free consultation for your office
visit to discuss the process and what documentation
would be required for filing the requisite paperwork for
either a probate or administration proceeding.
It is important to note that someone can
be an executor’s for their relative’s estate even if
they do not reside in the State of New York.
Our office is technologically updated and communicates
regularly with clients inside and outside the state via
e-mail and telephone communication. You can rest easy
that the Law Offices of Michael W. Alpert will assist
and guide you through this difficult and trying time in
your life.
An uncontested probate or administration
proceeding can result in the issuance of letters
testamentary (or administration) in as little as four
(4) weeks. However, the time frame can be much longer
with a complicated on contested estate. Our office can
assess your situation when you make an appointment for a
free consultation.
