FAMILY BASED IMMIGRATION
Our office
has extensive experience handling immigration matters,
particularly with the process known as adjustment of
status (obtaining a “green card”). The Law of
Offices of Michael W. Alpert will assist and prepare all
of the necessary paperwork for filing with United States
Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
We offer a
free consultation to gauge your particular needs and the
best plan available for assisting your relative in
receiving their lawful permanent status. If you are a
citizen of the United States, the process is easier if
the person for whom you are petitioning is an
immediate relative (i.e, spouse, parent or child).
The waiting time for such relatives is relatively short.
However, for other family members, the process can take
several years before a visa number is immediately
available for your beneficiary relative.
Whatever
your unique situation, the Law Offices of Michael W.
Alpert will assist you can guide you through the
sometimes daunting task of petitioning for a relative.
Further,
once a lawful permanent resident (LPR) (“green card”
holder) has his/her status for five years (three
years if spouse of a US Citizen), you can apply for
citizenship by submitting the appropriate forms to USCIS.
It is important that you consult with an immigration
lawyer because there are certain instances wherein if an
LPR commits a crime or even certain minor infractions,
this situation could adversely impact your chances for
citizenship.
Our office is well-versed in all aspects of
family-based immigration law and can help your family
travel through the roads of the immigration process. |
